Wallrapp earns design award

TAMPA - Wallrapp Architecture and Interior Design was awarded the AIA Tampa Bay’s top design award - the “H. Dean Rowe, FAIA Award for Design Excellence” - for the design of  The E. O Wilson Biophilia Center at Nokuse Plantation.

Ana Rabelo Wallrapp, AIA, IIDA, president of Wallrapp Architecture and Interior Design, teamed with Cormac Phalen and Anthony Vallee of pv+r to design the nature-based educational center.

Tampa to host APA Florida conference

TAMPA - The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Florida) Annual Conference, themed "Building Blocks for a New Economy," will be held at the Tampa Convention Center from Sept. 14-17.

Ross Realty Group named Power Broker

TAMPA - The Ross Realty Group Inc. announced that the firm has received the “Power Broker Award” by the CoStar Group for Top Leasing Firm in the Tampa Bay area. The awards place the firm among the top 10 brokerage firms in the area based on transaction volume for the previous year.

Each year, CoStar recognizes commercial real estate firms in major markets nationwide on the basis of signed lease information as tracked in CoStar’s database.
 

Real Estate Lives hosts picnic

TAMPA - Families and friends gathered together Aug. 20 at Philippe Park in Safety Harbor for an afternoon of food, fellowship and fun courtesy of Real Estate Lives volunteers and donations from eight corporate sponsors.

All told, REL ticket-taker Mary Ann Boyd signed in more than 100 picnickers of all ages for the feast that Tara Harris and her team at Masters Construction and Development - Rock Angell, Bruce Jonas, Jean Duran and James Mitcheltree - bought, brought and cooked with the assistance of Jeff Feeley and Elaine and Jim Ruyle.

Hennessy project earns LEED certification

ST. PETERSBURG - The Jordan School historic renovation, completed in August 2009 by Hennessy Construction Services for the city of St. Petersburg, has received LEED certification and an architecture award. The project was awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and a 2010 AIA Merit Award for Architecture in the Historic Restoration Category by AIA Tampa Bay, as submitted by Renker Eich Parks Architects of St. Petersburg, the architect of record for the project.

Marcus & Millichap sells 2.5-acre parcel

TAMPA - Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services announced the sale of the University of Tampa Land Development Opportunity, a 2.5-acre parcel located in Tampa. The asset commanded a sales price of $4,000,000.

Sarasota unveils 102,000sf police HQ

SARASOTA - The city of Sarasota celebrated the opening of the new police headquarters located downtown on the corner of East Avenue and Adams Lane. Attendees included elected officials, the city's police chief, Architects Design Group and all disciplines of the design team, including the construction management team of Kraft Construction and subcontractors.

Castle Group opens Gulf Coast offices

TAMPA - The Castle Group, one of Florida's largest property services companies, is increasing its presence in the state by opening offices in Bonita Springs and Tampa. The expansion comes on the heels of Castle's acquisition of the property management business of WCI Communities throughout Florida.

The WCI Communities business represents more than 7,000 units in Florida. The two new offices are convenient to WCI's west coast communities and will supplement Castle's existing Plantation and Palm Beach locations.

Edwards Construction opens Lakeland office

LAKELAND - Edwards Construction Services Inc. held an official ribbon-cutting event to mark the opening of its new Lakeland office on Lake Morton.

The company also has offices in Ocala and Orlando. Currently, Edwards is constructing the DelWebb Orlando Clubhouse (32,000sf) north of Haines City.

TAMPA - It's not time to call out the marching bands, but second quarter results in the Grubb & Ellis|Commercial Florida Quarterly Office Trends Report for the Tampa Bay region spotted some local economic data that's been missing for more than two years - positive absorption of office space.
