Gerrits Construction: Broward College

BOCA RATON - A partnership of Gerrits Construction and D. Stephenson Contractors has been awarded, by Broward College, the new $7 million, 26,000sf Nursing Simulation Building Addition on the Central Campus. The overall goal of this facility will be to provide both entry-level students and experienced healthcare workers a safe, controlled environment to practice realistic scenarios and acquire critical-thinking skills.

Miller Construction Company: Republic Services

FORT LAUDERDALE - In its second innovative, Green design/build project for Republic Services, Miller Construction Company has begun work on a 30,000sf office/maintenance facility for the company’s West Palm Beach-based truck fleet.

Scheduled for June 2010 completion, the two-story building at 7329 7th Place North, West Palm Beach, will accommodate three distinct functions: offices, a maintenance shop, plus support space with locker rooms and training areas for more than 100 truck drivers.

Glidden Spina & Partners: Lydian Bank

WEST PALM BEACH - Glidden Spina & Partners, Architecture and Interior Design Inc. completed two design projects for Lydian Bank & Trust in Coral Gables and on Palm Beach.

The renovation of Lydian Bank’s Palm Beach headquarters on Royal Palm Way incorporated the first and third floors of the building and approximately 19,000sf of space.

GS&P also handled the renovation of Lydian’s 4,000sf boutique offices in Coral Gables.

JMWA Architects: Palmetto Bay Village Hall

BOCA RATON - JMWA Architects has been commissioned to design the new Palmetto Bay Village Hall in Miami-Dade County. JMWA joins Master Builders of South Florida, TLC Engineering, ONM&J Engineers, and Camero & Associates Civil Engineers as part of the design-build team. The project is being designed to attain the U.S. Green Building Council’s Gold LEED certification. The projected start of construction is Feb. 1, with completion expected in mid-November.

Pasquale Kuritzky: New contracts

FORT LAUDERDALE - Harlan Kuritzky, vice president of Pasquale Kuritzky Architecture Inc., has announced that the firm has been awarded two new design services projects:

- Wool Plumbing Supply - Pasquale Kuritzky will provide market programming, conceptual planning, design and construction management services for a new 22,500sf one-story building for Wool Plumbing Supply at 13950 NW 8th St. in Fort Lauderdale. Construction is projected to begin in the summer of 2010.

Suffolk Construction: Aberdeen fitness center

WEST PALM BEACH - Suffolk Construction Company Inc. started construction of the Aberdeen Golf and Country Club Inc.’s new Fitness, Tennis and Aquatic Facility in Boynton Beach. The $9,200,000 project consists of construction of the 18,000sf main building, an outdoor pool, pedestrian walkways and beautifully landscaped grounds. ADG Architects designed the Aberdeen Golf and Country Club Fitness, Tennis and Aquatic Facility, and Suffolk project teams started construction of the project during summer 2009. The project is scheduled for completion by June.

Terry’s Electric: Riviera Beach complex

PALM BEACH COUNTY - Terry’s Electric Inc. is handling electrical site work at the city of Riviera Beach’s multimillion-dollar Dan Calloway Recreation Complex under its contract with Ocean Gate General Contractors, Stuart. The company’s scope of work is slated for completion in February 2010. The complex is at 1420 W. 10th St. in Riviera Beach.

SchenkelShultz: Storm Grove

WEST PALM BEACH - SchenkelShultz Architecture designed the School District of Indian River County’s recently-constructed $34.3 million, 167,500sf Storm Grove Middle School at 6400 57th St. in Vero Beach. Designed to meet the LEED for Schools Gold criteria established by the United States Green Building Council, SchenkelShultz incorporated the “school within a school” concept whereby each grade level is housed in a separate classroom building to create small learning communities.

Moss & Associates/ D. Stephenson Const.: Lauderhill Municipal Complex

LAUDERHILL - Moss & Associates / D. Stephenson Construction Joint Venture have completed the $13.1 million Lauderhill Municipal Complex at 5581 West Oakland Park Blvd. The four-story Green municipal office building is the first LEED Silver city hall in the South Florida region, which includes Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach counties. The facility is in the heart of the city’s business district and provides workspace environments for the offices of the mayor, commissioners and city manager departments.

SIKON Construction: Target remodels

DEERFIELD BEACH - SIKON Construction has been awarded the contract to remodel a total of 8 South Florida Target stores, converting the stores to Target’s P-Fresh concept that will offer many of the grocery products available in the Super Target stores.

SIKON’s scope of work includes interior buildouts at Target stores in Aventura, Cutler Ridge, Bird Road, Kendall, Miami-Central, Miami-Dadeland, Miami Lakes and North Miami. Work was scheduled to begin in January.
