Sarasota Police HQ earns LEED badge

 

SARASOTA - The city of Sarasota’s six-story, 201,453sf police headquarters designed by Architects Design Group achieved LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
 
The new $38 million headquarters building, located in downtown Sarasota, is the first police facility in Florida to be LEED certified and the 33rd LEED-certified police facility in the United States.
 
Architects Design Group has designed more than 2 msf of police facilities throughout the nation.

Hedrick Brothers project earns LEED Gold

WEST PALM BEACH - Hedrick Brothers Construction announced its third LEED-certified building project. Northboro Elementary School, West Palm Beach, has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) under the LEED for Schools category. This $25 million modernization and restoration was completed in August 2010 for the School District of Palm Beach County. BRPH Companies was the architect for the project.

USGBC names Top 10 LEED states

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Green Building Council has released its 2010 list of Top 10 states for LEED-certified commercial and institutional Green buildings per capita, based on the U.S. 2010 Census information.

The District of Columbia leads the nation, with 25sf of LEED-certified space per person in 2010, with Nevada being the leading state, with 10.92sf per person in 2010.
 
Other top states include New Mexico, New Hampshire and Oregon with more than 6sf and 4sf square feet of LEED-certified space per person, respectively.
 

SchenkelShultz center earns LEED badge

ORLANDO - Stetson University’s $1.5 million, 5,600sf Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture, Orlando, received the LEED Certification presented by the United States Green Building Council.

SchenkelShultz has designed more than 4 msf of higher education projects nationwide including the Stetson University Lynn Business Center, the first LEED-certified building in Florida, and the LEED Gold-certified Rinker Environmental Learning Center, both on Stetson’s DeLand campus.
