CREW-Miami, FIU launch education initiative
MIAMI - CREW-Miami, in partnership with the Florida International University Department of Finance and Real Estate, announced the launch of UCREW, an educational program designed to provide undergraduates with an inside look at the complexity of, and mechanisms behind, the commercial real estate market.
CREW-Miami’s sponsorship of the program aims to help college students prepare for entry into the job market and embark upon successful careers during one of the most distressed commercial real estate environments in modern history.
“The commercial real estate industry is undergoing historic upheaval as a result of the economic downturn. The next generation of CRE professionals is going to have to enter the market on top of their game and as well-prepared as possible for the new reality of deal making in 2010,” said Elizabeth Green, UCREW co-chair and managing partner of The Green Companies.
“There’s no better way for them to do so than to tap into the expertise of veteran industry leaders like CREW-Miami members. That’s why we’re committed to providing both the real-world education and the professional networking these up-and-coming future professionals need through our new UCREW program.”
UCREW coincides with the launch of CREW-Miami’s 2010 “Make It Happen” campaign, a call to action for real estate professionals to move past the doldrums of the recession and work together to facilitate deals.
